Some of you may know that our Club Chess Team has been participating at Inter-Club Tournaments for the last few years, and started to win laurels with the Outram Club win earlier this year.Now, we are planning several Chess activities at our Club premises. If you have ever played the game, or would like to start, we invite you to get in touch by registering your interest, at reception@calcuttaclub.in or by registering in person at Reception. We will then add you to the Chess Whatsapp group for Chess updates.Play Chess: Arrangements are in place to practice Chess on the first floor of the Sports Centre. Currently, we meet up on Wednesday evenings 5 pm – 9 pm, and hope to add more sessions with your participation.Learn Chess: A weekend Coaching camp is being proposed for Members and Dependants in November. This is to teach the basics of the game, and open across age groups. Regular Coaching to sharpen strategic and tactical skills will be planned at a later stage.Enjoy Chess: Indian Chess is now on a high with a remarkable crop of young Grandmasters making International headlines.Last year we had Grandmaster Mitrabha Ghosh showcasing his skills with a simultaneous exhibition against our Members.More such exciting events are at a discussion stage.Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua has agreed to be a mentor to the Calcutta Club Chess team.If anyone in your family is interested in these activities, please email to reception@calcuttaclub.in so that we can keep you posted.
